I took Dr. Z yoga class on a Saturday morning and it set my day up in the most positive way. I didn't realize that starting my morning with Dr. Z's yoga class would have a lasting effect on my energy, vibe and mental state for the entire day. The class was small and intimate, which I liked because I'm new to yoga and I didn't feel intimidated with a bunch of yogis. Dr. Z was thorough and made small suggestion with my technique, posture and form that made a huge difference. I even broke a sweat! Dr. Z's voice was calm and comforting and her energy was motivating. I'm looking forward to her next class.

I've taken a few yoga classes from a number of yoga teachers working in different styles and her class is by far the best experience I've had. I have an old wrist injury that means I needed to be careful about what I did and Dr. Z helped me modify postures as needed, it was both supportive and challenging. I'd recommend her classes for all levels of practice.

FAQ

  • 1. I’m not flexible. Can I still do this?

1000% YES. You don’t need to be flexible to do yoga, you do yoga to create more ease in your body. Hips & Hearts Yoga meets you exactly where you are, no matter your experience level.

  • 2. What if I don’t have a yoga mat or enough space?

No mat? No problem. You can do this practice from your bed, a chair, or even your couch, this isn’t about looking “perfect,” it’s about moving in a way that feels good. If you have room to stretch your arms, you have enough space.

  • 3. What style of yoga is this?

This isn’t your typical yoga class. Hips & Hearts Yoga is a fusion of Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative yoga, designed to help you release stress, emotions, and tension stored in your body. It’s breathwork, deep stretching, and mindfulness—wrapped up in a playlist that makes the whole experience feel like a vibe.

  • 4. I have a hard time slowing down. Will this be too slow for me?

If slowing down feels uncomfortable, that’s a sign your nervous system needs this work. This isn’t just about stillness, it’s about moving through what’s stuck. We go at a pace that lets your body and mind breathe, reset, and let go.

  • 5. Do I need any equipment?

Nope! Just you, a quiet(ish) space, and an open mind. If you have a yoga mat, great—but if not, a soft surface like a carpet, bed, or even a folded blanket works. Grab a pillow if you want extra support.

  • 6. What if I can’t do all the poses?

That’s totally fine. Every movement has a modification, and you’ll never be pushed beyond your limits. Can’t sit on the floor? We do chair-friendly options. Tight hips? We move slowly. The goal isn’t to push, it’s to release in a way that feels right for you.

  • 7. Will there be music?

Absolutely. Healing should feel good. Expect soulful, grounding beats—R&B, neo-soul, lo-fi, and tracks that help you move intuitively and breathe deeper.
